Zoology

Department of Zoology was established in the year 2014  with the aim to provide an excellent learning opportunity to the students with Biology background. The core strengths of this department are its highly qualified and experienced faculty and laboratories providing sophisticated equipment and facilities required to learn the basic and applied areas of Zoology.

To offer strong foundation in Animal Sciences and to improve practical skills to enable students to pursue higher education and research in Zoology or in applied areas of Life Sciences.

To promote quality education and learning at all levels of Biological organization.

To focus on recognizing the essential roles of biology in the lives of human beings today and tomorrow.

To provide information about contemporary advancements in Life Sciences.

To encourage students towards research in the areas of Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology.

We emphasize to inculcate critical thinking, analysis of Biological concepts and experimental skills to enhance research ability of the students.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:

The Department aims to provide a broad multidisciplinary course in zoology.

To show how the form, function and behaviour of animals become adapted to the environment through evolution.

To develop students' practical scientific skills.

To make the students aware of Natural Resources and Environment.

To elucidate general biological principles through the study of specialised or experimentally tractable systems.

To achieve excellence in Teaching , Research and extension Education in field of Zoology.

To create awareness among students about the latest streams of life sciences including Genetic Engineering, Biotechnology.

To train the students in a wide range of science based skills that provide the learning base for  future careers in disciplines such as Health sciences,Agriculture, Environmental Management, the emerging Biotechnologies, Teaching , Research and Management.

To promote students for Self Employment through Aquaculture, Sericulture, Apiculture, Poultry, Animal Husbandry, Bio fertilizers and Vermiculture.
